My college…
I went to Mithibai College.

Favourite hangout…
I used to hang out a lot in the canteen and eat samosas.

Pocket money…
I started working when I was 16 with Shiamak Davar and was also working as an assistant director. So I took care of my own expenses.

If I were 18 again…
I would be carefree, because I think I haven’t really enjoyed my youth too much since I started working very early on. By the time I was 21, I got into films full-fledged and my youth was centred on work. I would love it if I had a full day to myself with absolutely no responsibilities and no pressure.

Most memorable moment…
I had a great time in college. We drove down to Goa once – a bunch of us, in two cars. I had just bought myself a Fiat Palio and I thought it was the best car in the world. I must have been 17 or 18. A bunch of the guys got drunk, lost their way and reached six hours late. But we had a blast!

Lesson learnt…
I think it is very good to enjoy yourself because that’s the age when you are growing as a person and discovering new things about yourself. But one should never lose aim in life. I was very lucky because while in college I had a very clear aim about my career though I couldn’t finish my graduation due to work.

"When you are in love everyday is Valentine's Day" - Shahid Kapoor

So what plans have you made for Valentine’s Day?
(Laughing) Honestly, none, yet. Valentine’s Day is a beautiful concept but you don’t have to wait for February 14 to celebrate. When you are in love everyday is Valentine’s Day.

Shahid Kapoor aspired to be a cricketer
The chocolate hero names his favourite things

Food
I love rajma chawal the most and the only time I eat rice is at my dad’s place.

Cricket
I aspired to be a cricketer but I would get fired by my mom for breaking neighbour’s window panes and she didn’t quite relish replacing those.

Movie
I enjoyed watching Lawrence Of Arabia, it is a great piece of cinema. I loved the Oscar-winning performance by Peter O’Toole in it.

Holiday
Any where is fine but Europe is my all-time favourite destination because I can connect with it easily for it’s architecture, natural beauty and mountains. I can simply sit out on the balcony and relax.

Music
I listen to Hindi music and I love Justin Timberlake’s new-age music. I loved watching his live performance at a club, he has truly broken the mould.

Shahid and Priyanka star as Romeo and Juliet!

Vishal Bhardwaj's passion for adapting Shakespearean plays into Hindi films continues. After Maqbool (based on Macbeth) and Omkara (an adaptation of Othello), the director's latest venture is based on Shakespeare's immortal love story . Shahid Kapur will play Romeo. Our source says, "Vishal has wanted to adapt Romeo and Juliet for a long time, even before Maqbool and Omkara. Yet he ended up making Maqbool first, then Omkara." Incidentally, after Omkara, Vishal launched Julia, based on the life of actress Mary Evans, better known as Fearless Nadia, the yesteryear stunt queen. He had even screen-tested German actress Franka Potente for the title role of Julia. The film, however, was shelved. "Vishal and UTV had a fallout over the budget of the film. He had no option but to abandon the film. With Julia being shelved, Vishal has thought of beginning work on Romeo and Juliet once again. Vishal has seen Buz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet starring Leonoardo Di Caprio and Claire Danes, set in modern times. Vishal too plans to set his film in modern times," the source said. While Shahid Kapur has been roped in to play Romeo, Vishal is yet to zero in on his Juliet. Our source, however, says, "Priyanka Chopra is being considered to play Juliet's role." Vishal Bhardwaj was unavailable for comment. Interestingly, there have been 32 adaptations of Romeo and Juliet to date, Buz Luhrmann's film being the last one.

Torn Between Hrithik & Shahid !!!

Having choreographed Shah Rukh Khan's item song for Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4, choreographer Ahmed Khan was all set to guide Hrithik Roshan's through identical rhythms. But now there's a problem. Because of Hrithik's knee problem his version of the item song has been pushed from February into March. "And the dates are clashing with the song that I've to do with Shahid Kapoor for Ken Ghosh's film. The dates were firmed in long ago. And I don't know what to do! Shahid is not just my buddy, he's like my brother. Besides the song requires a lot of special effects. It's a complicated number. There's no way I can disappoint him," says Ahmed currently wrapping up the production work for Pathshala featuring a cast of phenomenally-talented child actors. But now Ahmed needs to find a way out of the deadlock regarding Hrithik's item song. "We're trying to work out a solution. However if all fails then there's no choice I'll have to go with Shahid. Hrithik will have to get another choreographer. "Ironically at a time when Ahmed is taking his job as a filmmaker so seriously he's suddenly much in-demand as a choreographer. In fact he has just choreographed a huge number with Aamir Khan in Gajini. "With his newly-acquired muscles and toned body Aamir's dance movements are phenomenal. The way he moves has to be seen to be believed," says Ahmed.

No Smoking for Shahid Kapoor!

After his relationship with Kareena Kapoor went kaput, Shahid Kapur otherwise a teetotaler and non-smoker, in a bid to beat depression, resorted to smoking. Reveals a close friend of Shahid, "Shahid was a complete teetotaler, but he started smoking on the sets of Kismet Connection in Canada after his break-up with Kareena. He was often stressed out and we didn't realize what was wrong with him. Suddenly, we saw him smoking heavily during the shoots. We thought it was work-related stress, but we were worried when we saw that he had become a chain smoker." After friends advised him about the side-effects, Shahid realised that he was indeed harming himself. Adds our source, "He felt it was wrong of him to smoke because he was sending out wrong signals to his young fans who hold him in high regard. On his birthday last month, Shahid made a resolution to give up smoking completely. It's a relief that in the past few days he hasn't touched a single cigarette. He's also working out rigorously for Ken's untitled film." Our source says that Shahid realised that a lot had changed in his personal and professional life. Kareena has moved on and so has he. He has accepted things and is happier after Jab We Met was hugely appreciated. He doesn't need cigarettes anymore!" When contacted Abbas Ali, Shahid's trainer and close friend, confirmed, "Shahid is training very hard these days. But a few days back there was something amiss, he was not achieving the desired results. When he asked me what was wrong, I told him that his smoking was causing him much harm. Thank goodness, he kicked off the habit and has stuck to it." Interestingly, he had started smoking on the sets of Kismet Connection and he has kicked off the habit just before the release of the same film.
